WHY VOTE NO ON MEASURE E?
- The School Board’s bad decisions have caused a deficit of 3.2 million which not they want to pass it on to you to pay in the form of MEASURE E. Why would anybody reward them from unwisely spending the taxpayers’ money?
- If all the clauses in MEASURE E pass and you live in a home you will be paying $766, ($204+$242+$320) a double-whammy to the taxpayers
- The School Board allows 450 kids from out of town families who do not pay these parcel taxes to attend school in Davis, a free ride. How fair is that?
- A child’s education and services from parents who live in an apartment are the same as those who live in a home. Yet those living in an apartment will pay $20 and you if you live in a home will pay $766 if all the clauses of MEASURE E go in effect. How fair is that?
- The school board is out of control, they hit us with Measure A last May which raised the taxes by 62% to $520 per year. They hit us with Measures P, W, and C in May this year and now they are at it again with MEASURE E. Four measures in two years points to the failure of the parcel tax system. The School Board is treating Davis taxpayers as if they were and ATM machine.
- To make matters worse, the School Board has set up a bribe for seniors, for a "yes" vote. Seniors (65 and over) do not have to pay the parcel taxes but they get to vote and impose MEASURE E on everyone else. How is that fair?
- MEASURE E is not a renewal of Measure A. It is a NEW MORE EXPENSIVE TAX. Measure A was a two year emergency measure at a cost to the taxpayers of 6.4 million. MEASURE E is another new more expensive tax. It costs 12.8 million, double the cost of Measure A. How fair is that?
- These parcel taxes are NOT deductible from your Income taxes. You will pay taxes on these taxes.
- With that annual automatic increase the School Board placed on MEASURE E, you will not know the exact amount of parcel taxes you will pay until you get your tax bill.
- ADMINISTRATORS SALARIES are PART OF THE PROBLEM. There are four Superintendents that together make $655,000 a year, the equivalent of 19 teachers at their entry level salary.
- Campaign of Deception. The School Board tactic is to threaten to fire the teachers and dismantle programs if you do not agree to pass these new taxes. After Measure C passed, they fired 47 teachers anyway. They cancelled dismantled language classes, cheating the taxpayers. Why should you throw more money on a broken system and reward them for this dishonesty?
- Voting NO on MEASURE E will send a message to balance the budget and cut waste. Nowadays, people are losing their jobs and their homes and cannot afford new taxes.
- Others feel like you. 5,403 Davis residents voted against Measure A last year. It passed only by 83 votes. Inform your friends and neighbors and ask them to vote NO on MEASURE E.
- The deception of the School Board to Davis Residents is evident after the passage of Measure C in May. The Board fired 47 teachers anyway greately affecting negatively the children's education. Wasn’t their campaign scare tactic that if we do not pass Measure C the teachers will be laid off? Many voted for Measure C so that won’t happen. They deceived you because even after you voted for it, they fired 47 teachers anyway.
- They deceived the public by telling them Measure E will keep language classes. After the passage they are canceling them anyway. Now classes are bigger not smaller even after the passage of Measure A, Measure P, Measure W and Measure C. It demostrates the complete failure of these parcel taxes. that do not direclty benefit the children. What credibility do they have to ask for more of your money?
- THE SCHOOL BOARD IS RUNNING A STRUCTURAL DEFICIT WHICH THEY WANT TO PASS IT ON TO YOU IN THE FORM OF MEASURE E.
- Instead of apologizing to the taxpayers for running deficit, they want you to pay a 3.2 million deficit per year for the next four years at the cost of 12.8 million to you, the taxpayer.. Wouldn't it make sense they fire the Superintendent of Finances instead making you to pay for their bad decisions.
- If you continue to approve these parcel taxes, the School Board will never change its behaiviour of deficits and endless tax measures.
- How could anyone reward the School Board that is running a deficit of 3.2 million a year by passing MEASURE E? Passing MEASURE E will signal that this behavior is OK. It is accepting that it is OK that you pay the debt their bad decisions have created.
- The School Board has never discontinued these measures. Every measure since the 80”s has increased the tax from $45 per year initially to $200 by Measure Q (2007). In addition $120 more by Measure W (2008) plus $200 more by Measure A (2011). and now a total of $766 is all clauses of Measure E pass. Likely you will pay this as long as you own your home.
- Nowadays, people are losing their jobs and their homes and cannot afford to pay these huge taxes.
- The arguments in favor of these measures are a list of all normal things the School Board is supposed to and expected to be doing with 61 million dollars we, the Davis taxpayers, pay them for the education of our children, nothing special.
- Why should the voters give them more money when the davis Schools scores are going down? Statistics published by the California Department of Education reveal that Davis schools did not even place within the first 15 in the Sacramento area. How is the School Board asking for more money when the product they deliver is diminishing in quality? - SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS A MAJOR PROBLEM The Superintendent and his three Assistant Superintendents make $654,833 together. When four people make the equivalent of 19.1 teachers at the teacher's minimum salary of $34,127 per teacher, something is wrong with this picture. School administrators are making more money that people graduating with PhD's. Take a look:

- If a parcel tax measure passes and you live in an apartment, the property owner will pass the bill to you and your rent will go up.
- FORCED TUITION IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. “Public education is not free”, said Ms. Sheila Allen, Trustee of the School Board (11/17/2011). This responsibility is of the parents with children in public schools, not their neighbors who are not responsible for the education of their children.
- If public education is not free as Ms Allen states. How come this School Board allows 450 students from out of Davis to attend Davis Public Schools for free. These families do not pay these taxes, do not live in Davis and yet get the same educational services. How fair is that? Ms. Allen cannot have it both ways.
- CAMPAIGN OF DECEPTION. The School Board will hold the teacher’s jobs hostage and threaten to dismantle programs if you do not agree to pass the new tax. It is time to say NO to “scare tactics” and intimidation. Voting NO on E will send a message to balance the budget and end the deficits.
YOUR VOTE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE VOTE NO ON E
